Bulls Find Their Valentine

Jun 24, 2016 Seth Newman | View Comments

The NBA draft saw two Spartans selected, one in each round. Senior Denzel Valentine was selected 14th overall to the Chicago Bulls. It's a good fit with the Bulls trading away point guard and former NBA MVP Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks. Valentine should see playing time right away, and has a chance to be the starting point guard for the talented Bulls.

Freshman Deyonta Davis, slid after being considered a lottery pick. Davis was the first pick in the second round to the Boston Celtics who traded his draft rights to the Memphis Grizzlies. Davis will be playing with Tom Izzo's other one-and-done player, Zach Randolph. The Grizzlies are a good team, so Davis won't be counted on that much to begin with. He is a very raw prospect who will need to work on his offense if he wants to see large amounts of minutes. Davis does bring a terrific rebounding and defensive presence, which the Memphis crowd will love.

Matt Costello wasn't drafted but signed a deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

Bryn Forbes will decide between the San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, and Charlotte Hornets, according to Izzo during a media teleconference.
