Spartans in the NFL (Week 17)
Brian Hoyer learned from a couple of the best minds in the NFL during the first three years of his NFL career in New England. While every quarterback wants to be the starter, it wasn't too bad of a gig for Hoyer, learning under Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick.
But finally, after bouncing around from team to team at the end of the 2012 season, Hoyer made his first career start on Sunday. It appears that Hoyer did an admirable job for the hapless Cardinals offense, leading his team to 13 points at San Francisco.
On the day, the former Spartan quarterback completed 19-of-34 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His touchdown pass was a 37-yard, fourth quarter strike to Michael Floyd - Arizona's first touchdown pass in seven games.
For Hoyer's sake, here's hoping that his first career start finds him a landing spot on an NFL roster for the 2013 season.
