"Unexceptable, the way we did not show up today. Give Oaland all the credit they played a lot harder then we did, our approach at the plate was disappointing" -Coach Jake Boss after Michigan State's 3-1 loss to Oakland.

Michigan State's offense which coming into the game on Tuesday was averaging a little over 7 runs per contest, was limited to just one run on seven hits by six Oakland pitchers. Oakland would jump on Spartan pitcher Andrew Gonzalez in the fourth with back to back two out doubles to take a 1-0 lead.

MSU would battle back in the fifth when Jordan Zimmerman would extend his hit streak to 15 games with a single and would eventually score the Spartans lone run of the day thanks to a Zach McGuire RBI double.

Gonzalez would settle down and overall have a solid outing that saw him end up with a career high six strike outs on the day. The Golden Grizzlies would get what would be the game winning run in the 6th and add an insurance run in the eigth to seal the victory.

"Our pitching most certainly gave us a chance to win, all those guys we put in today threw well, well enough to get a win." [..]
